Louvre Hotels Group inaugurates its first hotel in Seoul
On January 28, 2016, in the presence of CEO Pierre-Frederic Roulot, Louvre Hotels Group inaugurated its first hotel in Korea, the Golden Tulip M Seoul Hotel.
The Group also officially opened its Korea regional office and announced its plan on aggressively expand its presence in the country.
In Korea, in just one year, Louvre Hotels Group signed 8 hotels (2,896 rooms) in the country to open by the end of 2017. The Group currently operates 2 hotels; the Golden Tulip Seoul M hotel and Golden Tulip Jeju Hamdeok on Jeju Island.
5 hotels are under construction and 3 are to open in 2016. The objective is to open 25 hotels by 2020 and to be a top 3 player in the country. Seoul register an average occupation rate of 80% and is 15,000-room short every year.
The newly opening Golden Tulip Seoul M Hotel comprises of 17 floors above ground and 5 floors below ground with total of 430 room. It is one of largest hotel in downtown Seoul, nearing City Hall and Myongdong shopping district. Well known designers participated in the creation of this premium design hotel, with different designs and room types in each per floor. The entrance of the elevator areas on every floor is decorated with pictures of different countries to reflect the design of the respective floor. Also, an art gallery is located at the all-day dining restaurant and the lobby, where arts by new artist are displayed and will be renewed on a regular basis. The top floor hosts a modern roof top bar with a fantastic scenic view of downtown Seoul.
The Golden Tulip M Seoul Hotel also received certification as a green building eco-friendly interior professing naturalism: Instead of using wallpaper, environmentally friendly paint was used. Tile and wood finish were used instead of carpet. Hinokki tub (Japanese scent tree) with cypress trees material was used to offer the Asian touch with a sense of being part of nature.
