Caissargues

A welcoming commune in the Gard, ideally positioned for exploring the Roman heritage and sun-filled landscapes of the greater Nîmes area.

Caissargues, Your Gateway to Roman Nîmes and the Camargue

Located just south of Nîmes in the Gard department of the Occitanie region, Caissargues is a quietly appealing commune that benefits from an excellent position within one of southern France's most historically and naturally rich areas. Its proximity to Nîmes places some of the Roman world's best-preserved monuments within easy reach, including the magnificent Maison Carrée, the Arena of Nîmes and the iconic Pont du Gard aqueduct, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that spans the Gardon River with extraordinary elegance. The surrounding Costières de Nîmes wine appellation produces distinctive whites, rosés and reds shaped by the area's galets roulés soils and strong Mediterranean climate, and local estates welcome visits throughout the year. To the south, the wild and untamed Camargue beckons with its flamingo colonies, white horses and vast salt marshes, while the historic cities of Montpellier and Arles are comfortably within reach.
